The variety of colors and textures were considered errors and shortcomings of wood. The change in the color of wood due to the action of fungi without changing the properties of the wood was considered an error that was strictly eliminated as inferior wood. Or simply a tree in its structure in the heartwood has one color and the rest another; the same was considered a "error". Only with knots of all colors and shapes, everything was removed.

Today we can see the beauty in all these "errors" .

With all the shades it simply challenged to oppose or combine them. In various shapes, objects it could give unexpected results. This is even more expressed by the uncertainty of changes in shades when applying wax or oil.
